NEW***  Click [HERE] to see an ITV Wales report on microchipping against fish theft

Chips4Fish is an integral part or The Pet Chip Company and we work closely together to
provide training for implanters and supply all the necessary tools, stock and back-up,
including  veterinary consultation and advice if and when required.  Chips4Fish works
throughout the UK and can provide advice on microchipping fish stock at very short notice.

Implant Training

We are pleased to offer microchip implanter training for fish-keepers. The course lasts about three hours and gives hands-on training in handling and implanting transponders (microchips) in fish.  We always try to hold courses locally but this depends very much on available waters and fish.  We aim to keep course sizes to no more than 6 and all participants get to chip at least two fish.  The training is inexpensive and enables you implant your fish at a great saving and possibly to sell your skill to neighboring fisheries.

The photo (left) shows our fisheries consultant, Dr Bruno Broughton giving instruction to an small group of prospective fish implanters.

Please note: Unless you're trained in implanting techniques for fish we will not supply microchips or microchip implant equipment.

Contact us for further details by clicking [here] and emailing me.

With ever increasing reports of fish being stolen Chips4Fish can now report a newfound interest from fisheries and fish farms alike in microchipping stock at source or on delivery. We are pleased to be able to supply a list of fish farms who will microchip your new stock before or on delivery.

For leisure fisheries Chips4Fish are always keen to come and train a bailiff, or interested volunteer, in the techniques of microchip implantation in fish so that fishery owners can control budgets and chip their stock over a reasonable period.

Adding our inexpensive lakeside signs will help deter thieves. The signs come in three sizes, are high visibility and are guaranteed for three years against weathering.

Current projects include the microchipping of re-stocking carp, on delivery, at a reservoir in Lincolnshire and another, Olivemead Lake, in Wiltshire and an on-going research project on pike in a Scottish loch (see below),

The fish are caught, measured and weighed then microchipped chipped.  The implanter then checks the implant (above right) with a scanner to ensure the chip is in place before release.  The real work starts when the fish is recaptured and all the details are updated and put into the pc.
